from a thread about lug brazing in
the framebuilder's world:

but don't misinterpret; i don't think of lugs as
"art" or "handwork" or "touch- feel-y". i truly
believe brazing steel tubes with lugs is the best
way to join steel tubes, period.

other methods have been examined and used as a
concession to time clocks and ease of production.
ultimately, tig, etcetera became accepted and developed
its own aesthetic.

at this point, it's fruitless to argue the details
because the industry leads the market, and it has
spoken. but when the roads of time and money don't
intersect, using lugs is tops.
