Avid cyclist and editor-in-chief of WatchTime magazine, M?tth?w
M?rse, sent me the above link to the interview with watchmaker
Phillipe Dufour. I have long seen parallels between framebuilding
watchmaking. The text of this interview touches on the respect
that industry and those at "the top" pay to handwork, history,
and quality - all inseperable. The bicycle industry, commercial as
it is, oftens eschews "tradition", and and the market often views
framebuiders as those "paying hommage to the past" and trying
"to keep alive a dying art". I think those are questionable stereo-
types and are limiting at best.
I think we can all draw inspiration from this interview and find
ways to better serve our clientele and improve our lot in life.
