i would like to add this:
"stainless" became an lug aesthetic only recently due to the
scarcity of quality platers and skilled workers. you didn't see
much of this prior to the 90s. painters such as joe bell still
offer access to great plating and masking.

i realize there are environmental and ethical issues with plating
but i can't help to think that the casting industry itself is not
immune from complaints from the green party! as dave said
earlier, for a casual brazer to tackle s.s. parts on a frame, he'd
better be sure he realizes that it's a different animal - and is
worth the effort, and charge accordingly.
ps: since s.s. wets out differently, he should also make sure his
insurance premium payments are up-to-date.
